Toe,
Rose-breasted Grosbeaks is almost annual in winter in Florida. In fact, there is also one in Louisiana right now which has spent the winter in a person's yard.
There is no comparison with Red-eyed Vireo, a bird which retracts almost entirely into the Amazon Basin and has no precedent in the entire ABA area during winter. In fact, even the Yellow-green Vireos in Central America and Black-whiskered Vireos in the Caribbean retract almost entirely in winter -- the former into the Amazon Basin and Andean foothills and the latter to northern South America and most of the Antilles east of Cuba. Also, if there ever were a Red-eyed Vireo in the ABA during winter, would it be one of "our" birds or an overshoot from the austral breeding population in north-central South America that also winters in the Amazon Basin? Some food for thought.
I think you need a photo of some sort to document a bird sighting of this magnitude.
Carlos
