I had a good day at Okeeheelee Nature Preserve this morning seeing many (about 15) painted buntings, 5 indigo buntings, a palm warbler and the Spiza american Dickcissel talked about on this page. At one time there was five buntings feeding with the Dickcissel.I'm sure it was a Dickcissel because it was brown overall, yellow chested, a touch of yellow over the eye brow and showed two distinct black throat lines. The largest group of birds showed up at 10:30 AM. About 5 other photographers-birders were there to witness the feeding commotion. Two wood ducks were present in the small lake by the Nature Center building.
