Today I took the family down to Robbie's Marina in Islamorada to eat lunch and to feed the tarpon fish that hang out by the dock. It was a beautiful day to be out with warm and dry weather with beautiful blue sky!
On the way back we trolled a few neighborhoods hoping to find a good bird. Carysfort Circle in upper Key Largo proved again to be productive. Not long after we got to the east end of South Carysfort Circle road, I heard a Myiarchus flycatcher call. I saw the bird fly with at least one Great-crested Flycatcher into the mangrove trees just east of the road. It started giving a call note and even a little song. I was able to photograph the bird which was nice, I thought that I would not have found it again. There are not many records that I am aware of, for Ash-throated Flycatcher in Monroe county, this was a nice surprise to a beautiful day! if you google Carysfort Circle Key Largo, you can get an exact map for directions.
