Some good points Bill. However, I have seen an Orchard or two (1st year birds) where the bib does not fully encompass the eye, as with the bird in the photo, and the decurved culmen may not be obvious in the photo due to the angle of the bird's head.
I will say that the whitish in the flanks shown in this photograph is indeed strange. I say this because I was there with Toe along with four other folks and the yellow color was just right for Orchard.
Maybe it has something to do with Toe's photography skills. But seriously, would anyone else care to comment on this matter?
