What is your opinion on birders using electronic equipment..........I see where many birders are now using such gadgets to supplement "phishing" and call in warblers etc. In Yellowstone that would get you a quick citation and 25 yards is the rule for approaching goldfinch, juncos, etc.
What about blinds. I am using them at 4-8 feet distance and the birds have no concern.
As Rick, I have shot from the concrete walkway and never spooked a bird in 4 years. Now yelling screaming children, that is another story.
With 300/400/500 mm lenses most responsible photographers don't need to get too close.
And while we are on the topic of Okeeheelee....it seems to me that far too much seed is placed out and most is collecting mold or sprouting. But it is "their" park so I go with the flow even to talking with the staff members as I take pictures and 10-25 feet.
Maybe the better rule is too clcose is when you make the bird change its pattern of movement, or feeding, or make it poise for flight. Tough call and I guess we all have to bring common sense to the table.
