Twenty-five 6th graders from West Miami Middle attended today's birding class at Royal Palm Hammock. I tallied the following while there:
Pied-billed Grebe
Double-crested Cormorant
Anhinga (still plenty of nestlings)
American Bittern
Great Blue Heron
Great Egret
Snowy Egret
Little Blue Heron
Tricolored Heron
Green Heron
Black-crowned Night-Heron
White Ibis
Glossy Ibis
Wood Stork
Black Vulture
Turkey Vulture
Red-shouldered Hawk
Short-tailed Hawk (dark morph)
Purple Gallinule
Common Moorhen
White-crowned Pigeon
Belted Kingfisher
Great Crested Flycatcher
White-eyed Vireo
American Crow
Carolina Wren
Gray Catbird
Northern Mockingbird
Common Yellowthroat
Northern Cardinal
Red-winged Blackbird
