: Based on a tip from a friend, who got it from a Sweedish birder in the Keys, Rock Jetty relocated a Ruff at STA-5 Sunday, 4 Apr 04. I was lucky to receive a call from him early enough to get out a benefit from his searching! I'll post a picture tomorrow. It appears to be a female or imm. male.

will get you to a Birdbrains post with a link to a picture (RUFF DS1.jpg) of the Ruff taken by Doug Suitor at the bottom of the page. I want to change our belief the bird may have been a female. I heard from a friend of the Swedish birders, Colin Gjervold who called Stefan Schlick, who called Rock Jetty (Ola and Nikolas Sundberg were the birders) that they believe it to be a male. Further study this afternoon, and mostly the fact that they are from Europe and have seen MANY more Ruffs than the three of us have leads me to believe they are right! BTW, Rock Jetty deserves a ton of credit as he relocated the bird and stayed until Doug and I were able to get there. Then he relocated it first among us!
