Corbett Short-tailed Hawk info (no sightings)

The STHA I posted earlier that was found at Corbett was banded. I was able to read most of the numbers and contacted Ken Meyer who I knew did some STHA banding. Here is the info I received back. Thought it was kinda interesting to post it. She also had a radio-transmitter attached to her.


Captured 11/18/2006 in Everglades National Park. A light-morph female (by genetic analysis of blood sample after release), AHY (after hatch year, so at least 1.5 years old at that point and no way to know if/how much older). That would make her at least 5.5 years old now. She is the female that nested at Gore's Landing WMA on the Okalawaha River in Marion Co. for the last 3 years. This bird used the Okalawaha area each year from 2007 through 2009, I think radio died last year and we didn't find the nest or hear the signal. We've had luck finding her each winter on telemetry flights too. 2009 near the south entrance of the Everglades, and her last fix was January 2010 in the north addition of Big Cypress.
