Nice wintering birds continue along Research Road in ENP. A Least Flycatcher was at the entrance to the missile site, a White-tailed Kite (probably same one that Greg and Debbie had) was over the restoration area and the Brown-crested Flycatcher continues near the T at the east end. Another Brown-crested was along the eastern edge of Moser Hammock in the Long Pine Key picnic area. This bird hasn't been very cooperative this winter. Usual wintering sparrows, hawks, vireos, wrens and warblers are scattered along Research Road, including a lonesome American Robin calling near the Boy Scout Camp. Indigo Buntings are on the move, as I had several small groups fly over.
The oak hammock right after the turn to Royal Palm was productive, with a large mixed flock that included warblers, vireos, gnatcatchers and 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets. As I sorted through the flock, a female Chuck-will's-widow flew across the road and landed in front of me and <15 yards inside the hammock.
