A group of 10 (4 m/6 f) in the NE corner of Blue Heron Lake, viewed from Veteran's Park, along NW 21st Ave. a bit north of Oakland Park Blvd. At this location there was also a Pied-Billed Grebe that had caught a relatively large sunfish; it apparently could not come close to swallowing it, but did not want to give up. It was still carrying the fish around when I left.
Also in this area there is a large lake along NW 31st Ave., just north of Commercial Blvd., that had several Ring-necked Ducks. The lake is posted, but can be accessed for viewing from the SE corner, where there is a store with a parking lot facing the lake. Today, Sunday, the lot was empty.
Thanks to Joanne, who told me about these lakes on the TAS Broward walk yesterday.
