Tropical Audubon Society Field Trip Itinerary
Saturday, January 22, 2011
Meet 8:00 AM at Eastlin Park (located on Park Lane south of Commercial, north of Oakland). For more complete directions refer to Broward County Parks website. We will meet at the playground parking lot turn right after the entrance.
Next stop-Warbler Wetlands. Return to Powerline, and turn north. Turn west at Commercial. Turn south on NE 21st St. We will park on the grass along the road. (note no bathrooms at this site)
Next stop-Westin Hotel complex. Return to Commercial, then turn north on Powerline to Cypress Creek. At Cypress Creek turn east. The Westin Hotel is just past the entrance to I-95, on the left. We will park at the SE end of the complex, near the lagoon. (Note no bathrooms at this site)
Next stop-Sunset Park. Return to Cypress Creek. Turn west. Cypress Creek becomes West McNabb. Follow this to the end of the road, and the park is on the left. There is a nice picnic area-this is where we will have lunch. Bathrooms available.
Following our gourmet lunch, we will caravan to the City Furniture swamps to view Purple Swamphens.
Next stop-Woodmont Natural Area. Return to West McNabb, go east to NW 83rd Ave. Turn north. Natural Area will be on the right. (note-no bathrooms at this site)
Last stop-Woodmont Dog Park-Return to West McNabb. Turn south on NW 80th. The dog park entrance is on the left. Bathrooms available.
