The biggest group of birders for the season showed up today despite the windy, raw conditions.

There were plenty of Red-bellied Woodpeckers flitting around as well as a Yellow-bellied, Downy, and Pileated. Raptors included Osprey, Northern Harrier, Snail Kite, and Red-shouldered Hawk. We had both Vultures (and if anyone could update me on the huge Black Vulture die-off earlier this November in the Florida Straights, I'd appreciate it) but ducks were scarce -- only a few Blue-winged Teals. (This is true at Wakodahatchee and Green Cay as well.)

We had good views of some FOS (Loxahatchee, that is) warblers -- Yellow-throated Warbler and Northern Parula -- in addition to the standard Palm, Pine, and Yellow-rumped.

But the most interesting thing of the day, at least to me, was the hundreds and hundreds of Robins flying overhead. Some alighted briefly in the tree tops but most just circled around and around.

Today's photo is of a Loggerhead Shrike who is, unfortunately, partially obscured by a branch.
