Neotropical Birds posted on Greater Anis being sighted and photographed recently in the Caribbean. In 2005, two were found in Aruba by Steve Mlodinow (incidentally a WA birder, like Alex Wang).
More recently, two were photographed in Curaçao and one was also photographed in the U.S. Virgin Islands on the same day.

The Birds of Costa Rica (Garrigues and Dean 2007) also noted that single birds were found in Tortuguero, Costa Rica in 2003 and 2004. Tortuguero is on the Caribbean, closer to Nicaragua than Panama.
A Guide to the Birds of Panama (Ridgely and Gwynne, Jr. 1989) noted mentioned an article in The Auk on Greater Anis collected in northwestern Mexico in 1960. The origin of the specimens were questioned, however. Here is the link to the article: http://elibrary.unm.edu/sora/Auk/v095n04/p0766-p0767.pdf

These sightings may give us and the records committee more to think about. At first, I deemed the possibility of Greater Anis anywhere in the U.S. extremely unlikely, but the sightings away from Eastern Panama, South America and Trinidad should not be ignored.
In the mean time, hopefully people are still searching for this bird.

Hopefully this link works the first time.
