From December 27th, 2010 to January 10, 2011, I recorded 22 species of ducks in the lower-half of the Florida Peninsula covering basically five counties: Collier, Hendry, Sarasota, Manatee & Pinellas. The ducks I've seen are:
Black-bellied Whistling-Duck
Fulvous Whistling-Duck
Muscovy Duck
Wood Duck
Gadwall
American Wigeon
Mallard
Mottled Duck
Blue-winged Teal
Northern Shoveler
Northern Pintail
Green-winged Teal
Canvasback
Redhead
Ring-necked Duck
Lesser Scaup
Long-tailed Duck
Bufflehead
Common Goldeneye
Hooded Merganser
Red-breasted Merganser
Ruddy Duck
I know where to get White-cheeked Pintail & Greater Scaup and if I wanted to really travel (which I can't afford) a trip to the East Coast of Florida would probably yield two, maybe all three, scoters. That's a lot of ducks for Florida in a relatively short time frame!
