Rock Jetty and I, inspired by this Bird-A-Day thing, did an early morning jaunt in ENP. We started out with Sedge Wren and White-tailed Kite on Research Road. From there, we walked the trail past Gate 2A and got Downy, Red-bellied, and Pileated (heard) Woodpeckers, Northern Flickr, and Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Brown-headed Nuthatch, Pine and Yellow-rumped Warbles, and House Wren.

We then headed to Gate 15 and the mound. No sign of the Gull-billed Tern, but we did have Hooded Mergansers, Lesser Scaup, Ring-necked Ducks, Limpkin, King Rail, both Yellowlegs, many waders, and several Swamp Sparrows.

We finished the morning at Anhinga Trail where we found several Purple Gallinules, American Bittern, and 3 Short-tailed Hawks. We also saw some of the biggest camera lenses I've ever seen. One had to be at leat one thousand millimeter, maybe two!

Yesterday, while chasing birds in the vicinity of 217 Ave, I came across an interesting for sale sign. See the link below. This looks like a real bargain. Any takers?
