This afternoon we observed a White-cheeked Pintail reported by Carolyn Kline on BirdBrains (see birdingonthe.net for archives). Grassy Waters is a beautiful wetland area we had not been to before. How one counts the bird on one's list (vagrant or exotic) could be considered a personal decision, but the area also had a hunting male Snail Kite, Sedge Wren, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks and two Hairy Woodpeckers (at parking lot about 1/2 mile east). The area is almost to the western edge of the Grassy Waters wetlands along Northlake Blvd. The pintail was maybe 200' south of the east end of the pull-off, in the company of two Mottled Ducks.

Directions copied from Carolyn's post: (Rte 95, exit 77)
"head west on Northlake Blvd., pass Grassy Waters (wet areas both sides road), U turn to (return toward) the east at the Ibis shopping center to access south side of the road, go to the area that has a widened shoulder (not even a 1/4 mile). Lots of noisy traffic-be careful."
