Anhinga Trail had a nice selection of birds this morning, many of which were lifers for my group of 44 young birders from Bob Graham K-8 Center in Miami Lakes.
Double-crested Cormorant
Anhinga (several on nest)
American Bittern
Great Blue Heron
Great Egret
Little Blue Heron
Tricolored Heron
Green Heron
White Ibis
Wood Stork
Black Vulture
Turkey Vulture
Red-shouldered Hawk
Purple Gallinule (3)
Belted Kingfisher
American Crow
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Black-throated Green Warbler
American Redstart
Common Yellowthroat

On my way to the park, I stopped at Lucky Hammock, where I re-found the Brown-crested Flycatcher that has been wintering there. It was at its usual hangout on the side of the hammock facing Aerojet Road. A Magnolia Warbler was also present. Once in the park, I walked out to the Gate 15 wetlands; birds tallied there included Ring-necked Duck, Hooded Merganser, Least Bittern (heard), King Rail (heard), Limpkin and Caspian Tern. Several Eastern Bluebirds were opposite Gate 2 on Research Road.

On my return home, I passed by the intersection of SW 217 Avenue and 312 Street in Homestead, where I saw five Scissor-tailed Flycatchers on the wires just east of the intersection.
