According to the Florida Breeding Bird Atlas (http://myfwc.com/bba/), Black Skimmers do not breed in the Everglades or Florida Bay. They certainly winter there; 520 were tallied in Florida Bay during this past Sunday's Coot Bay/Everglades National Park Christmas Bird Count. At low tide, they congregate on sandbars that can be viewed from the Flamingo Visitor Center.
