Yes, I've turned the page, for now. I figured with all these great birds showing up around the state, including down here, there's nothing to whine about. Well, except not having enough time to see them all.

After several years of persisting, Trey finally convinced me to join him, Bill, Robin, and a host of other mentally deranged birdaholics to do the "bird-a-day" thing. I told him I like to do the "lots-a-birds-a-day" thing, but oh well, I'm in for now. I had some decent birds for the first 3 days of the year, so this morning I wanted to continue the streak with a Bonaparte's Gull at Dump Marsh. I dipped on that, but instead had an American Bittern at the reedy area just past the plant, then the Yellow-headed Blackbird showed up with about 100 cowbirds on the wire, and finally as I drove along 87 Ave just south of 248 St. a Limpkin stood on a wire mesh thingy along the canal. All this before 7:30. I had three good birds to choose from for my bird of the day. Yesterday, I picked up Horned Grebe at the canoe launch, and saw many, many rafts of ducks out over the glassy calm waters, more than I think I've ever seen down here. This is definitely as good a winter as I've seen in a long time.

But, we still don't have any Cedar Waxwings, or Goldfinches, or Robins.... No, I won't do it! I'm a changed man!! No more whining!!!!!!!!!!!!!
