The Hooded Merganser was still present on Thursday, December 30th at 8:30 am.

We had not been to this location before so we walked over to the other pond to the west of Outback but didn't find anything there. When we returned to the eastern pond the Merganser was nowhere to be found.

We went on to the Wellington Environmental Preserve (our original destination) and what did we spot first-off? A Hooded Merganser which promptly drifted off behind a bunch of reeds. Same one? Don't know.

Sorry for the poor quality photo. This guy pays strict attention to Rule #3 of birding -- "The ducks will always go to the opposite end of the pond."
