This afternoon I went to follow up on Don MacKrell's Redhead he reported on 12/29. I found the bird behind the shopping plaza along with Ring-necked Ducks. I identified it as a female Greater Scaup, checked the previous post, and saw that Don quickly corrected his original i.d. as a female Redhead to a scaup species.
While visiting Merritt Island NWR several days go, I noted the drought in areas such as Blackpoint Drive, which usually have hundreds of ducks (at the least). This is likely the reason for the massive influx of ducks in not only South Florida, but the entire state.
