Yesterday,Sunday March 5th,at 4:30pm,I spotted a beautiful adult Bald Eagle. The sighting was near my home,in the northern broward city of Coconut Creek,3/10 of a mile east of Lyons Road on the south side of Wiles Road. This is the third time,in the past couple of weeks, that someone from my family has spotted a Bald Eagle in our area. The first two sightings were by my wife and daughter. But,as the old saying goes, the third time is a charm. Wow,was it ever a charm!! I was driving on Wiles Road when I saw the Eagle perched in a dead australian pine tree. Immediately,I stopped the car,put on the flashers and stood there gazing for 3 or 4 minutes in the middle of the road...from a distance of only 75 to 100 feet! What a gorgeous up close view. And,what a time "NOT" to have binoculars or a camera! This majestic bird finally had had enough of my gawking and soared off to the east in big, lazy circles. Though, Bald Eagles are not a common sight here in the City of Coconut Creek,we do see them with more frequency during certain times of the year. I can't wait to see the next one!
