Even after a previous post stating there were very few birds, George White and I headed up to MINWR. Yes, the area is extremely dry, but we did manage to see quite a few species. Most exciting was an American Bittern crossing the road on Black Point Drive and giving us some great views for quite a while. We just got a new scope and got good looks of distant ducks and shore birds too.

In summary:
Snowy Egret
Great Egret
Little Blue Heron
Little Green Heron
Great Blue Heron
Tri color Heron
Anhinga
Pie Billed Grebes
Hooded Mergansers
Northern Shovelers
Lesser Scaup (2)
Roseate Spoonbills
Bonapartes's Gull (lifer for us)
Kingfisher
Savannah Sparrow
Common Yellowthroat
Wood Stork
White Pelicans
Sanderlings
Dowitchers Short billed
Dunlins
Sandpipers (Western?)
Killdeer
Wilson's Snipe
Forester's Tern
Yellowlegs, lesser

I'm sure I missed a few.
Happy birding.
