I took advantage of a day off to go down to the hawkwatch at Curry Hammock on Monday. It was a good day to be there as they recorded over 1100 raptors by 5pm, beating the year's previous best of 960+ set on Sunday.

Peregrine numbers were reduced from Sunday, but lots of Kestrels came through.

The following were seen on Monday (my estimates, based on what I recall of the count sheets): Osprey, Mississippi Kite (3), Bald Eagle (2 inc. resident), Northern Harrier (10+), Sharp-shinned Hawk (hundreds), Cooper's Hawk (tens), Broad-winged Hawk (100+), American Kestrel (7-800!), Merlin (a few), Peregrine Falcon (tens).

Others of interest: Piping Plover, Herring Gull, Chimney Swift, N. Rough-winged Swallow
