On the way to work this morning, I saw no fewer than eight Blue-and-yellow Macaws flying in pairs over SW 64th Street, just west of SW 62 Avenue. Two pairs turned north and the other two continued west.
Just up the road, I stopped at the canal by Coral Gables High School and counted 26 Manatees, ranging from 12-foot adults to young 3-footers. Several were immediately below the seawall, providing a good angle for photography (though I didn't have a camera, sadly). A few had prop scars, but none looked fresh and all seemed to be healthy, if a little cold.
What's better than a beautiful winter morning in South Florida? A winter morning where you don't have to go to work. That'll come tomorrow.
