I think most of the birds have flown the coop to visit their families during the holidays even though the number of birders has remained fairly steady. Things started out slowly but, by the time we finished our regular Wednesday walk, we had 50 species -- not too shabby.
One of the Great Horned Owls was in the exact same spot as last Saturday. (Its mate was most probably nearby but we couldn't spot it.) Earlier in the morning we had a beautiful Yellow-throated Warbler and a Swamp Sparrow as well as most of the usual waders (though missing the Green Heron and Purple Gallinule, which are almost always present).
