I didn't see the bird so it's a little harder for me to get that general jizz of a live bird when first seeing it, but when I first saw the pic the first thing that came to mind was Orange-crowned. I think it is the blurry streaking on the chest that eliminated Nashville for me. The Peterson guide says "Some dull Nashvilles in fall can look almost as dull as Orange-crowned, but always have clear yellow on breast". The tail also looks a little long. The Nashville has a short tail. Orange-crowned's have a less noticeable eye-ring and this bird's eyering doesn't jump out at me like for a Nashville. It even looks somewhat divided towards rear. Many Orange-crowneds also have grayer heads than body. The white near the vent I agree is confusing though. Maybe a hybrid? Just kidding. I'll still see an Orange-crowned.
