Hoechoka Hammock (University&Sawgrass) is erupting in fall colors. The red-tipmmaples are simple ablaze and the oaks are dropping humungous numbers of acorns. Sugar berry are in color as are the Turkey Oak, and the Sweet Gum. Elms are so-so. the cypress are defoliating needles which are being blown into cigar-like rolls. Tupelo and mulberry still green.

Warblers are descending in large numbers. Mainly palm warblerss but a good show of black & whites, blue-grey gnatcatchers, and female buntings. Also others would be pine warbler, about 15 prairie warblers and mottled ducks and ibis numbers are on the increase. Paradise trees are into leaf-drop from the cold (no color). We had two days of frost last week and expect two more this week.

Ospreys now present along with red-shouldered hawk and one merlin.
