Birding Opportunities in Miami via cruise ship

My husband and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary by taking a cruise from NYC. The ship stops in Miami on Wed. 2/25. Here we are hooking up with relatives for a day of sightseeing at local tourist traps. We are birders; they are not (except for their 15-year-old son, who we've brought over to the 'dark side').

If you had ONE day in Miami and could make ONE stop, somewhere between where the cruise ships dock and, oh, say Parrot Jungle Island, is there an opportunity for a little interesting birding? They might be up for a "nature walk" - heh heh heh. They'll all be converted soon...
