A follow-up report from the Minnesota gang on a recent visit to Southern Florida. At Ft. Meyers Beach (Feb. 6), many Wilson's and a few Piping Plover were observed but alas no Snowys. Am. Oystercatcher were also seen feeding in the mudflats. The Swallow-tailed Kites appeared to have returned to the Everglades as we spotted one soaring just over our car near Paurotis Pond. Were able to spot a Gull-billed Tern amongst all the other shorebirds present at Flamingo. In Kendall, in the neighborhood just north of the Baptist hospital (Feb. 8), we were positioned at the crack of dawn and were rewarded with a Spot-breasted Oriole as well as a Red-whiskered Bulbul. Hill Mynas and YC Parakeets were observed at the Fairchild Botanical Gardens. Again in Kendall, near the Royal Palm Tennis Club, a large flock of Mitred Parakeets was observed and found a Blue-crowned Parakeet in the mix. No WW Parakeet seen at any locations. At Shark Valley, near the restaurant (Feb. 10), several (4-6) juveniles and female Snail Kites were observed on the north side of the highway flying low over the swamp in search of food. Many other birds were observed but too many to list here.

Thanks to all who came to our assistance to provide us with some valuable info as we planned our trip. Southern Florida was great!
