I will be unable to meet any carpoolers at 7:00 am. at the Doc Thomas House on Saturday, February 14, 2004 as I will be staying in Broward County tonight celebrating my Ballentine's Day birthday with friends and plan on going directly to the park in the morning. If you do show up at the gate and no one has keys to the gate that plans to return to let you back in later, I would suggest you park your cars on the west side of the property along the fence in order to carpool. Make sure you lock your cars. Meet at Flamingo ESL (Long Key) at 8:00 a.m. sharp as a Broward County Parks naturalist will be there to let us in a locked gate. We will go to the Northwest Regional Library in Pembroke Pines west of I-75 on Sheridan Street afterwards to look for Masked Ducks, Purple Swamphens, Least Bitterns, Sora, etc. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you. Life is good................knowing we may have a close encounter with a family of Great-horned Owls.
