As I was going to get my coffee this morning at the gas station adjacent to work noticed many noisy Common Grackles, a White-crowned Pigeon and some Collared Doves on a wire. When I came back out a Sharp-shinned Hawk zoomed by me and quickly flew through some trees. The doves were flying all over the place and saw a Sharp-shinned Hawk catch a Common Grackle in maidair. The hawek wasn't much larger than the grackle. They both fell on the roof of a house and struggled for a while but the hawk eventually let the bird go. Talk about avian drama for breakfast.
