Hi,
Folks got back home to the bird library and now see it was a dark backed Lesser Black backed intermedius.

The bird was there 6th, 7th and 8th Feb 2004.

We don't see them that dark up here in NJ.
Sorry Bill Elrick

: I received a phone call this afternoon from Bill Elrick, a birder visiting from New Jersey. He has been seeing on Miami Beach a dark-backed gull whose field marks he believes add up to Kelp Gull. He has been seeing the gull in the area on Collins Avenue between 16th and 18th Street. He says at one point he saw the gull perched on top of a "mobile cafeteria." He described the gull as not large enough to be a Great Black-backed, yet whose legs, eyes and bill weren't quite right for Lesser Black-backed. He has video of the bird.

: Anyone in this area should be on the lookout for this bird.
