Hey everyone,
Spent the day with my folks birding south dade today. We started at Lucky Hammock where we had:
2 Broad-winged Hawks
1 Short-tailed Hawk
3 Northern Harrier
Many American Kestrel
Loads of Mourning Doves and Common Ground-Doves
Many Palm Warblers
2 Eastern Phoebe
2 Great Crested Flycatchers
1 Orange-crowned Warbler-lifer finally, but no photo :(

3 Scissor-tailed Flycatchers were on the wires outside Glenn Barrett Park outside ENP.

The park was fairly quiet today. Anhinga Trail didn't have any Wurdemann's Herons, just regular GBHE. Also:

Anhinga
Tricolored Heron
Snowy Egret
Little Blue Heron
Green Heron

At West Lake, I found much of what was mentioned in a previous post:
100+ Northern Shoveler
300+ American Coots
100+ American Wigeon

At Mrazek Pond, we had:
American Coots
Green-winged Teal
American Wigeon

When we got to Flamingo, it was high tide, so barely anything out in the bay. Did have several American White Pelicans fly overhead, and 1 Short-tailed Hawk (Light Morph) kettling with Vultures.

On our way out of the park, we added Sharp-shinned Hawk at Lucky Hammock.

Butterflies were all over the place, the most common being Great Southern White. There were hundreds in Lucky Hammock and the surrounding fields, as in the park. Sleepy Orange, Barred Yellow, Zebra Heliconian, Julia, Queen, and Polydamas Swallowtails were also seen around. At Flamingo, I found a dozen Fiery Skippers along with Ceraunus and Cassius Blues in a small wild flower patch.

Roseate Skimmers, and a Saddlebag sp. of dragonfly were seen. Where the Fiery Skippers were, I found 3 different forms of the female Rambur's Forktail damselfly, an adult female, an immature female, and an immature malelike female.

Photos will be posted when I arrive in Bradenton tomorrow.
