I must have seen a thousand wading birds at Shark Valley and vicinity this morning (but only a few gators). The biggest concentration was just beyond where the Otter Creek trail rejoins the main loop road. Shortly before that point, I enjoyed two Roseate Spoonbills feeding with several White Ibis. Throughout the morning, Wood Storks and Snowy Egrets were everywhere.

A pleasant surprise was a juvenile Caspian Tern, heading west far inland along the Tamiami Trail near SV. Songbird activity seemed low, perhaps because of the chilly temperatures and brisk breezes.
