Daria Feinstien has once again graciously offered to allow us access to her residence on the morning of our December 4th - South Florida Exotics Trip to see the Blue and Yellow Macaws as early morning is the best time to see them. We will meet at 6:30 a.m. at the parking lot of the main entrance to Matheson Hammock and carpool to her residence, leaving at 6:45 a.m. sharp. As the Hostess with the Mostess , she will provide refreshments for the birders who accept this special invitation. E-mail me at pbithorn@plumbers519.com if you plan on joining us for this birding spectacle, so that I have a rough idea of how many folks will be attending. We will then proceed to Matheson Hammock, searching for Hill Mynas, Mitred and Yellow-chevroned Parakeets, Scaly-headed Parrot, White-fronted Amazons, Chestnut-fronted Macaws and God knows what else. Bring a lunch if you would like or join me at a local restaurant. We will be at the Baptist Hospital meeting place at 1:00 p.m. The trip will end at dusk in Miami Springs with a celebratory libation or two to be quaffed at Woody s West End Tavern in the Springs. Life is good..................................... Exotic birding is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you are going to get!

I will have to leave at 4:00 p.m. after searching for Aratingas and Amazons in Miami Springs. I have a black tie dinner celebration at the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood at 6:00 p.m, celebrating Miami Plumbers Local Union 519's 100th Anniversary. I am a 30-year member and have served as their Director of Training for 12 years. My wife said that if I'm late, she's going to leave me............I'm sure gonna miss her! After a long day of birding, stop by Woody's West End Tavern at 600 Payne Drive on the Ludlam Canal in Miami Springs for a cool one and smoked fish spread. They welcome birders and Red-fronted Parakeets (Aratinga wagleri) have nested in their scuppers. Please don't tell them that you know me or they may charge you double and have you pay some of my old tabs! Look forward to seeing y'all Saturday. We have 16 birders so far meeting for the Macawfest. Yesterday, the 28th, I accidentally deleted an e-mail to me about the trip from someone with snowbirder? or snow bunting? in the e-mail address so please resend it. Please R.S.V.P. if you plan on attending early a.m.so that we can have enough refreshments.
