On the Dade County CBC, my group found a large roost of Common Mynas during civil twilight in the parking lot of the Palm Springs Shopping Mile in Hialeah at the northwest corner of W. 49th St.(N.W. 103rd St.) and W. 4th Ave. (N.W. 57th Ave./Red Rd.). They were singing from the Royal Palms lining the exit out to the light on W. 49th St.We counted 32 that were visible and I would expect at least that amount were singing from their roosts. Common mynas can be seen in good numbers all the way west to Westland Mall (N.W. 16th Ave.) I saw my first Hill Myna on 12/3/83, Crested Myna on 6/8/85, Common Myna on 11/23/85 and Yellow-faced Myna on 9/15/88 in the parking lot of Westand Mall. My personal observation is that the Common Myna is well-established and expanding its range.
