The Horned Grebe that I found a few days ago continues at the North Naples Wastewater Treatment Plant here in Collier County. While I was there from 11:00AM - 11:30AM this morning, I saw what might be a Red-necked Grebe in winter plumage as well. However, I could not get a definitive ID on this bird because of the distance involved even at 60X zoom on my spotting scope as well as the continual diving behavior of this bird plus the tricky lighting involved. Needless to say, I will be checking on this bird tomorrow when I have more time. Also, while I was there, a pair of Northern Pintail flew in and joined the increasing flocks of Hooded Merganser, Ring-necked Duck & Lesser Scaup. As far as I know, this may be another addition to the checklist for this site. For directions to the North Naples Wastewater Treatment Plant, refer to earlier post.
