Hi, all!
Just a heads up that site nominations are now open for the South Florida Section of the Great Florida Birding Trail. While we've got a pretty good handle on sites managed by state and national entities (like state parks, national wildlife refuges, wildlife management areas), I'm particuarly looking for help from local birders like yourselves to identify and nominate smaller, lesser known sites, that may be either municipally or privately (corporately) owned. Please consider nominating one of your favorite sites; nomination forms can be downloaded from www.floridabirdingtrail.com or requested via phone from Trail Assistant Beverly Eikeland (850/488.8755). Nominations are due by May 15, and anyone can nominate a site, so please don't hesitate! Our series of public meetings soliciting nominations went well, but because our Miami date was just prior to the MLK Jr. weekend, attendance was low (albeit high quality). I wanted to be sure that the word got out in South Florida since you have so many unique sites to include. Thanks in advance for your help! Julie Brashears, Birding Trail Coordinator, Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission
