There were 300+ Bobolinks this morning at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park on Key Biscayne. 100+ were feeding in weeds along interior paths and in addition to the numerous heard birds flying high, I saw 5 flocks of 40-60 birds. A large movement of Purple Martins came through about 9 AM. Numerous swallows were mixed Northern Rough-winged with Barn. There were 4 Merlins, 2 American Kestrels and a large buteo. Eastern (5) and Gray (3) Kingbirds are still around. A flock of 11 Little Blue Herons flew over. Warblers were scarce with the 5 usual suspects present; Palm Warbler replacing Northern Parula.
On Crandon Beach flats, there are still large numbers of Royal Terns (150), Laughing Gulls and Semipalmated Plovers (80). Also present are 2 Great Black-backed Gulls, Ring-billed Gulls, Piping, Black-bellied (30) and Wilsons Plovers, Willet (10), Caspian Tern, Sandwich Tern, Ruddy Turnstone, Sanderling and dowitcher species. Black Skimmers seem to be gone.
