Stefan Schlick just called with information on the Windley Key Western Spindalis (see Larry Manfredi's post 1/23). He saw the bird at 2:40 PM and had "great looks." It was seen briefly ~9:20 AM and gave few vocalizations. It eluded him from 7:45 AM until 2:40 PM and did not vocalize while he watched it. Considering the lighting when he saw the bird, he feels it *may* be a black-backed.

Some location details: It was seen at the main quarry, near Marker 83. Look north (above the wall) between 2 distinct clusters of trees and shrubs. The bird was seen ~18 inches off the ground in Lantana.
