Anxious to bird this morning since it is too dark to bird on weekdays after work since the time change. Had 60 species of birds. Started out at Cutler Wetlands. The usual birds were there plus Wood Stork, Pintails (2 females/Florida first), Ruddy Duck (3 females) and Lesser Black-backed Gulls. Afterwards headed out to Dump Marsh in search of the Redhead. Bill Boeringer and Trey Mitchell were there and we all got to see the Redhead (a lifer for me). Also had a Shiny Cowbird male with some Brown-headed Cowbirds, Flickers, Savannah Sparrow, Phoebe, Great Crested Flycatcher, Gray Catbirds and basically the same egrets and water birds seen at Cutler.

Then headed to the Miami-Dade Environmental Center. They actually had some Bird Watching Walks for beginners/kids. Cute to see a little kid lugging around his big Sibley Guide later looking up the Black Vulture in the book after seeing one. Reminded me of myself as a kid in NY with my Golden Field Guide I always carried around. Anyway, had many Ruby-throated Hummingbirds (plenty of firebush around), Gnatcatchers, a Cooper's Hawk, and N. Parula, Black-throated Blue (female), Palm, Prairie, Yellowthroated and Common Yellowthroat Warblers. Also 2 male Peafowls in the adjacent neighborhood.
