Her name is Shirley and she's hot!
OK, that was sophomorish I know, but I couldn't resist.
This afternoon I went to Dump Marsh before sunset to look for Lesser Nighthawks. In the first pond behind the treatment plant there was a female Redhead among the 100 or so Coots. An American Bittern later flushed from the reeds closer to shore, and a few minutes later a Sora flew in from the old landfill to the west. At Cutler Wetlands a little earlier there were 4 Ruddy Ducks.
I didn't see any Lesser Nighthawks, but it may be a little early for them.
The Redhead is a county bird for me, so it's a great beer bird. Since I don't have a Dogfish Head Red and White, I'm going to break into my private stash and have a Bell's Special Double Cream Stout. Just ask Angel and Mariel whether this is a good one or not.
Cheers!
