I've seen giants in Peru and Ecuador. Their undulating flight immediately conjures up swifts(and some of the guidebooks reprt they are confused with andean swifts), despite thir 8 inches plus size.I've seen them in cactus near Cusco and along cliff walls just above and outside Quito. I suspect those taking the TAS Ecuador trips this summer will have a shot at seeing them on their way out of and into Quito. For those readers not planning to visit the zoo or take one of the TAS trips, I have attached to the link one of my images of a perched giant from Peru.
