I made an overnight trip to Everglades National Park camping at Flamingo with a stop on the way down at Lucky Hammock. Some of the more interesting birds observed were Yellow-breasted Chat, Lincoln s Sparrow, Blue Grosbeak, Brown-crested Flycatcher, Lesser Nighthawk, Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Nashville Warbler, and Crested Caracara.

Friday morning there was a couple of Yellow-breasted Chats calling across the road from Lucky Hammock and I saw one in the southwest corner of Eco Pond Saturday morning. The Lincoln s Sparrow was seen along the hammock edge across
the field west of Lucky Hammock along with a Magnolia Warbler. Several Blue Grosbeaks were on the east side of Lucky Hammock along with over a dozen Indigo Buntings and a few Painted Buntings and on Saturday two more grosbeaks were seen near the old cabins area at Flamingo. At least one Brown-crested Flycatcher was calling and allowing good views along the Old Ingraham Highway in the Live Oaks about halfway between where Gumbo Limbo Trail Crosses and the first bend. Several Lesser Nighthawks were flying around Eco Pond at about 7:00 pm Friday evening.

Saturday morning there was a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher along with a Western Kingbird along the main park road in front of the Visitors Center. The Nashville Warbler was a nice surprise on Snake Bight Road as was the Crested Caracara spotted flying just north of the park near the turnoff to Lucky Hammock.
