Thanks all for the info. This confirms what I suspected: that I saw a pomarine. It's a life bird all the same, so I'm very excited about it. Your comments are right on. The bird I saw fits your descriptions exactly. Hope Paul has better luck fishing than I did, the Jaeger was the highlight of my fishing trip, although I did have a sailfish swim up to the boat after one of my live baits, but I didn't put too much effort in getting him to strike. I was more interested in catching kingfish, but had none. Oh well, maybe next time. Thanks again.
