Michelle Davis celebrated her 33rd birthday today in ENP, and although many birds seemed to have been "sucked out" of S. Fla. last night, some nice ones did remain. Several beers later (and a stomach full of El Toro Taco and cake), here's all I can muster to report:

Clay-colored Sparrow (south of Mahogany, before Snake Bight, on side of road)

Blue Grosbeak (Just north of Flamingo, in vegetation on side of road)

60+ Marbled Godwits (streaming toward Snake Bight offshore of Flamingo campground)

Painted Bunting (female, same area as above mentioned Grosbeak)

Palm Warblers (THEY HAVE ARRIVED! in several locations around Flamingo campground and at Chikikka along road)

Short-tailed Hawk (im. dark-phase; at pump station near Chikikka- being harrassed by three Swallow-tailed Kites)

We didn't stop to look for the Key West Quail Dove as the habitat (coastal prairie) where it was reported is VERY difficult for relocating skulking birds.....hopefully someone else was lucky enough to find it).

All in all, not a VERY birdy day, but quality was clearly on our side.
