Linda and Ruth and several other photogs entered into a lively debate over the species of this bird. Merlin, peregrine, and ketrel were all mentioned.
Turns out to be a female kestrel a little short on the head and cheek markings. Linda wins!
Still a handsome creature, positioned on the dead tree on the east side. This bird and the red-shoulderd hawk exchanged positions for over an hour.
