Just had an interesting sighting of a light-phase Short-Tailed Hawk from my office window at 550 N.W. LeJeune Rd., just south of MIA. First I've seen in this very urban neighborhood.

On Sunday, Dec. 28, there was a third-winter Great Black-Backed Gull at Hutchinson Island, Jensen Beach. Also on the beach, I found two deceased No. Gannets, which seemed odd because both were immatures. Portuguese Men-of-War were washed up everywhere, which makes me wonder if the birds are susceptible to their stings while dive-fishing. Any thoughts?
