Met a birder friend at this N. Miami park this morning. My first time there. Small park with lots of very large beautiful oaks, gumbo limbos and strangler figs/banyans. Did not have many warblers (except for plenty of Palm Warblers) but there was some activity and nice variety of birds. Had:
Broad-winged Hawk
Red-shouldered Hawk
Short-tailed Hawk (light)
Cooper's Hawk
Mourning Dove
Ruby-throated Hummingbird (many)
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (FOS)
White-eyed Vireo
Red-eyed Vireo
Yellow-throated Vireo
Blue Jay
Fish Crow
BG Gnatcatcher (many)
Gray Catbird
Mockingbird
N. Parula
Prairie Warbler
Palm Warbler (many)
Black-and-white Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Cardinal
Painted Bunting (several males and females) (FOS)
Afterwards headed next door to Arch Creek Park. Sign says that it opens at 9 AM but at 10:30 still closed. Looking through the gate I managed to add a Cape May Warbler in what I think were Virginia Creepers.
On the way home stopped by Kendall Indian Hammocks for about 1/2 hour and had:
House Wren (FOS)
BG Gnatcatchers
Black-and-white Warbler
Palm Warbler (many feeding on ground)
Yellow-throated Warbler
Summer Tanager (female)
